Another amazing feature of the Yucatan is the vast system of underground rivers, pools, and caverns found near Tulum called "cenotes". Some of these cenotes are open for swimming and cave diving - with an experienced guide.

While the four and five star hotels in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo are priced comparably with other world-class resorts, you can still find deals in Mexico, especially at some of the lesser known resort areas, including the amazing Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa area, and even in some parts of the Riviera Maya.
